Blood Soaked Bastard! Final Boss Freeze Fix
A downloadable patch
A Blood Soaked Bastard! freeze fix that should alleviate the final boss freezing between the transition between phase 1 and 2. Got the blessing from the developer, too.
The following is from the README.
--- INSTALLATION ---
1. Open your Blood Soaked Bastard! game file location
a) Right-Click, Manage, Browse Local Files
b) Should be in something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common" or your custom steam library folder
2. Drag the www folder into the root of the directory
a) This will prompt Windows to ask you if you would like to replace 3 files, say yes!
b) If you drag www onto a file or into a folder this won't work!
3. Run as normal
--- What does this do? ---
RPG Maker (MV in this case) has a lot of bugs, one prolific one is the freezing behavior we see between phase 1 and 2 of the final boss "Demon" fight
It appears this happens as the game doesn't properly process the video loading, video termination, battle start sequence correctly. What I've done is
gone into my own copy of RPG Maker MV, edited the event sequence to add a 30 frame wait sequence between Phase 1's win state and the cutscene starting,
To my testing on two different machines with multiple different drive types (SSD/HDD) this fixes the bug almost entirely (one freeze ever). I suspect that the users who have had this issue have strong machines that load so quickly it causes the hiccup in the battle sequence, though I wasn't able to confirm this as I don't have
a shitty rig on hand.
There are only 3 edited files that result from the event adjustment:
Map023.json
MapInfos.json
System.json
Thus, you can tell that this is safe and also requires a legitimate copy of the game.
Happy Hunting, Bastards.
